Über den Spruch kann man streiten. Fürs Online-Dating lässt er sich aber ziemlich gut übersetzen:
Dein Profilbild entscheidet, ob du angeklickt wirst. Dein Profiltext, ob du angeschrieben wirst.
Das Foto weckt Interesse. Der Text liefert den Gesprächseinstieg. Du brauchst beides.
Quest 1: Zeig dich
Dein Lieblings-Animecharakter, dein Haustier oder ein Sonnenuntergang können großartige Bilder sein. Als Hauptfoto helfen sie aber niemandem zu erkennen, mit wem man es zu tun hat.
Ein gutes Profilbild ist:
Du brauchst dafür kein professionelles Shooting. Natürliches Licht und ein ehrliches Lächeln schlagen meistens das finstere Badezimmerselfie mit Toiletten-DLC.
Cosplay, Pen & Paper, Retro-Sammlung, Gaming-Setup oder Convention: Genau solche Bilder liefern oft schon den ersten Gesprächseinstieg.
Wichtig: Die Person auf den Fotos sollte auch beim ersten Date auftauchen. Sehr alte Bilder und starke Filter bringen vielleicht mehr Klicks. Spätestens beim Treffen folgt aber der Grafikvergleich zwischen Trailer und Release-Version.
Quest 2: Gib anderen etwas zum Antworten
Dein Bild hat funktioniert. Jemand öffnet dein Profil.
Und liest:
„Ich zocke gerne, höre Musik und treffe Freunde. Frag einfach.“
Was soll man darauf schreiben? „Hallo, welche Musik?“ Vielleicht. Begeisterung sieht anders aus.
Ein guter Profiltext braucht keine komplette Lebensgeschichte. Er braucht ein paar konkrete Details, an denen man anknüpfen kann.
Statt:
„Ich mag Games.“
Schreib lieber:
„Ich liebe Rollenspiele, bei denen ich nach 40 Stunden merke, dass eine Entscheidung aus dem Tutorial mein gesamtes Königreich zerstört hat.“
Statt:
„Ich lese gerne.“
Besser:
„Mein Bücherregal besteht aus Fantasy, Sci-Fi und einem Stapel ungelesener Bücher, der langsam eigene politische Forderungen stellt.“
Die einfachste Formel lautet:
Konkretes Detail + etwas Persönlichkeit + eine Frage
Zum Beispiel:
„Ich muss in Mario jedes einzelne Item sammeln, selbst wenn es mich drei Abende kostet. Team 100 Prozent oder Team Hauptstory-reicht?“
Damit hast du deinem Gegenüber die erste Nachricht praktisch schon vorbereitet.
Lass deine Geek-Flagge wehen
Du bist bei g33kdating. Hier musst du Gaming nicht als „gelegentlich am Computer“ tarnen und deine Anime-Sammlung nicht vor dem Date im Keller verstecken.

Gib lieber eine konkrete Vorlage:

„Keine Fakes, kein Drama, keine oberflächlichen Leute“ wirkt nicht geheimnisvoll, sondern müde. Schreib lieber, was du suchst.
„Gaming, Musik, Freunde, Reisen“ sind Tags. Wähle zwei Dinge und erzähl etwas dazu.
Der Bewerbungsmodus
„Loyal, ehrlich, humorvoll“ behaupten alle. Eine kleine Geschichte zeigt mehr Persönlichkeit als zehn Adjektive.
Denn am Ende gilt:
Dein Foto öffnet die Tür. Dein Profiltext gibt jemandem einen Grund, hindurchzugehen.
Also zeig dich. Schreib konkret. Und gib dem passenden Geek eine einfache Gelegenheit, dir Hallo zu sagen.

You can argue with that line. But for online dating, there’s an even more useful version:
Your profile photo gets the click. Your bio gets the message.
The photo grabs attention. The bio gives someone a reason to start a conversation. You need both.
Quest 1: Show yourself
Your favorite anime character, your pet or a sunset can all make great pictures. But as your main profile photo, they don’t tell anyone who they might actually be dating.
A good profile photo should be:
You don’t need a professional photo shoot. Natural light and a real smile will usually beat a gloomy bathroom selfie with the toilet DLC in the background.
Your ideal photo loadoutCosplay, tabletop games, a retro collection, your gaming setup or a convention: photos like these often double as instant conversation starters.

A good bio doesn’t need your entire life story. It needs a few specific details that give people something to grab onto.
Instead of:
“I like games.”
Try:
“I love RPGs where I realise 40 hours in that a choice I made during the tutorial has doomed the entire kingdom.”
Instead of:
“I enjoy reading.”
Better:
“My bookshelves are mostly fantasy, sci-fi and a towering backlog that’s starting to make political demands.”
The easiest formula is:
Specific detail + personality + an easy question
For example:
“I have to collect every single item in Mario, even if it takes three evenings and the last scraps of my dignity. Team 100% or Team Main Story Is Enough?”
You’ve practically written their first message for them.
You’re on g33kdating. You don’t need to disguise gaming as “occasionally using a computer” or hide your anime collection before a date.
Write about what you genuinely love.
Just don’t turn your profile into an entrance exam:
“You must have beaten every Souls game, hate Star Wars and agree with my opinion on Final Fantasy VIII.”
People aren’t custom characters built from a checklist. Shared interests can open the conversation. Whether you truly click depends on everything that comes after.
Profile bugs that cost you messages “Just ask”
Give them a specific opening instead:
“Ask me why I once sulked for three days over a lost save file.”

“Gaming, music, friends, travel” is a list of tags, not a personality. Pick two things and add a detail that makes them yours.

Und dann kommt der Plot Twist.
Nicht deinen Rat. Nicht emotionalen Support.
Geld.
Vielleicht geht es um Krypto. Vielleicht um Steam-Guthaben, Play Store Credit, Geschenkkarten, PayPal oder nur um eine „kleine Überweisung bis morgen“.
Die Geschichte ändert sich.
Das Ziel bleibt gleich.
Du sollst zahlen.

Fake Liebe. Echter Schaden.
Romance Scammer nutzen Aufmerksamkeit, Zuneigung, Einsamkeit, Hoffnung und Vertrauen als Waffen. Sie geben dir das Gefühl, etwas Besonderes zu sein und machen daraus Druck.
Und ja, das kann auch klugen Menschen passieren.
Das hat nichts mit Dummheit zu tun. Das hat damit zu tun, dass wir Menschen sind.

Echte Liebe beginnt nicht mit einer Zahlungsaufforderung.
Ein einzelnes Warnsignal beweist noch nichts.
Mehrere zusammen? Dann stopp kurz und denk nach.

Romance scammers use attention, affection, loneliness, hope, and trust as weapons. They make you feel special — then turn that feeling into pressure.
And yes, this can happen to smart people.
It has nothing to do with being stupid. It has everything to do with being human.

The golden rule

Real love does not start with a payment request.
One red flag might not prove anything.

If something feels off
Report the profile to us.
No shame. No judgment.
Scammers are professionals at emotional manipulation. Their whole strategy is built around making you ignore your instincts.
It takes less than a minute and might save you from a very expensive mistake.

If someone asks for money before you’ve even met in real life, it’s not romance.
